On Sunday May 1st, 2011 at approximately 11:30 PM the world became a better place. President Obama shocked the world at 10:30 PM saying that he will make a statement to the American people and possibly the world. Seconds after the President reached the podium he uttered the words, "Osama Bin Laden is dead." That of course impacted every person in our beloved United States. On September 11th, 2001, Osama Bin Laden's plan of killing as many American's as possible played out. On that Tuesday morning, a little less then twenty hijackers took control of four passenger jet airliners with the final destination being, World Trade Center One, World Trade Center Two, the Pentagon and presumably the White House or the Capital Building. September 11th, ended with about 3,000 innocent lives taken. Since that day many more, especially first responders, have passed on due to medical complications.
When Americans learned of Osama's death the majority of us felt a sense of bitter sweetness. The man that was in charge of planning the premeditated attack was brought to justice the American way. I personally felt a sense of joy that our boots on the ground killed him. The special forces team, Navy SEALs, did an outstanding job even though they encountered an equipment malfunction. With a big operation like this controversy spreads around the world and conspiracies begin. I want to clear these up.
Why was Osama killed if he didn't put up a fight?
No one could answer that better then the men on the ground. As a SEAL team I couldn't even imagine the time and training put into this one mission. The world knows that Osama is armed and dangerous and so does the SEALs. Before they boarded that helicopter the mission was clear, get Osama dead or alive. No one knows the position the SEAL team was in, and I believe they used their best judgment on killing Osama. More importantly as a fellow American I support their decision.
Why didn't the Obama Administration release photo's of the dead Osama?
It's not necessary! Islamic extremist already dislike the U.S. for what we have done to their leader. Releasing a photograph of a dead Osama would put an even greater harm on Americans. The President wouldn't interrupt our Sunday evening to put on a show. The DNA test prove its him, visual evidence proves its him, ladies and gentleman, Osama is dead. As a fellow American I support President Obama's decision, I believe releasing a photo could inflame retaliation against the U.S. and our troops serving abroad.
More importantly the worst has yet to come. Yes we killed their leader, but he was just a symbol of terror and I believe his followers will carry out more heinous attacks against innocent people. Now I picked up on everything President Obama said in his speech. He closed his speech with a part of the Pledge of Allegiance. "One Nation, Under God." We have to remember in spite of our differences, Black, White, Hispanic, Chinese, Indian, Republican, Democrat, we are all one nation. Our nation was built around one latin phrase,"E Pluribus Unum." That means out of many, one. As a country, we have to stick together, for we are all Americans and we are free. Many people could not begin to understand what we have in this country and we need to be proud of it. The attacks on September 11th killed innocent people in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania, but our whole country felt the pain. Now is the time to come together as a nation, be there for one an other, support each other and rejoice together. Blacks and whites, Democrats and Republicans, Yankees fans and Red Sox fans, need to come together and be out of many, ONE.
